This course is a lecture-lab format that introduces the Foundry Switch/Router Family of products, the architecture, core features and benefits and how they are utilized in the network. This course includes the basic configuration, operations and management of the L2/L3 Switches/Routers using the Command Line Interface (CLI) for the interfaces, VLANs and L2/L3 protocols. It serves as the foundation for the understanding of networking technologies and features offered by the Foundry Networks family of products.

Knowledge Prerequisites
Working Knowledge of:
• The OSI reference model
• The difference between networks using IP and IPX protocols.
• The differences between and functions of layer 2 and layer 3 devices (switches and routers)
• Spanning Tree Protocol
• Inter-domain routing protocols (RIP, static routes)

Course Objective
• Identify where Foundry Products are used in a Typical Data Network
• Create Layer 2 and 3 Data Networks using Foundry Switches / Routers
• Use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to configure and manage Foundry Switch / Router interfaces, VLANs and protocols.
• Upgrade software images and files on Foundry Switch / Routers
• Interconnect Foundry Switch Routers based on a network design
• Configure Access Lists
• Troubleshoot using CLI show commands
