This BootCamp is designed for technically-oriented students, who require the contents of the SNRS - Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches and IPS - Implementing Cisco Intrusion Protection Systems courses to be imparted in a compact manner. The first part of the BootCamp deals with the IOS Firewall Feature Set. It provides a wide range of options to protect routers against attacks. Cisco Catalyst switches, on the other hand, also offer powerful security mechanisms in the form of Native IOS. Many hands-on exercises serve to introduce the participants to the corresponding configuration methods. The sensors of the 4200 series, as well as the Intrusion Detection Service Module 2 (IDSM-2) of the Catalyst 6000 series, moreover, constitute high-performance components which can be used to configure an intrusion detection and prevention system. The second part of the BootCamp imparts all capabilities required for this task. It focuses on the IPS Device Manager (IDM), which is used to configure and manage the Cisco IPS sensor platform, as well as to monitor and respond to IPS sensor alarms. The contents of this BootCamp serve to prepare the student for the exams 642-533 (IPS) and 642-504 (SNRS), which are part of the Cisco certification.

Course Contents
See above!

In this BootCamp, each student will receive the original Cisco Systems course documentation in English language.

Target Group
This power program is tailored to students striving to acquire the comprehensive know-how on the security features of Cisco routers and switches, as well as on the Cisco intrusion prevention systems in a compact and highly efficient manner and quickly take the exam

Knowledge Prerequisites
A valid CCNA certification and practical experience with Cisco routers, particularly on the WAN sector, are required. Students, moreover, must have security know-how, as imparted by the IINS - Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security course, for instance. A CCNA Security certification is therefore desirable. The tight time schedule and multitude of discussed topics require a high degree of motivation and commitment.
