Today, many administrators have to integrate wireless LAN technology into their networks. Special fields of application, such as the setup of hotspots, become more and more important. First of all, it is necessary to gain an overview of the abundance of existing solutions. Anybody who wants to make a statement on the capability and maximum range of complex wireless LAN implementations does not only have to know the hardware used including the antennas, but also the influence of ambience parameters. Since VoIP has almost turned out to be a standard application today, the WLAN has to be multimedia-capable and QoS is mandatory, as well. After the course, the participants can take over the design, setup, and operation of secure WLANs and perform these tasks in a self-dependent manner.
